Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell
was a member of the cast of Saturday Night Live before going on to be a star in
big-screen comedy like 'Elf "Anchorman" and Talladega Nights. Born in
1967 in Irvine, California, Will Ferrell started his career in comedy as an actor
in the improv group based in Los Angeles called the Groundlings. Following his
seven years as a Saturday Night Live cast member, Ferrell became one of the
most popular comedians in the business by releasing off-color films such as Old
School (2003) or Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). Ferrell was also
the co-founder of the streaming video site Funny or Die and enjoyed the success
of voice acting in animated films such as Megamind (2010). John William Ferrell
was conceived in Irvine, California on July 16th, 1967. The youngest child of
Righteous Brothers keyboardist Lee Ferrell and teacher Kay Ferrell, Will
was--by his own admission--not the class clown as an student at University High
School. He was calm and studious however, he decided to be a football player,
setting a school record for the highest number of field goals made. Ferrell did
not exhibit the outrageous, funny behavior that would be the hallmark of his
career, even in the suburban house he lived in. In an interview with Esquire his
mother stated that Ferrell was "very calm and even-tempered. He was very
easygoing." "You do you remember those tiny Matchbox
automobiles?" Will put together his Matchbox cars by himself and be
completely content. You'd ask, 'Do you want to go to Disneyland today, or
arrange your cars?' and he'd have to think about it. "That's not to say
Ferrell was a total straight-laced man. When he would make his daily
announcements on the PA system, a glimpse of his comical talents was shown each
morning at high-school. Upon graduation in 1986, Ferrell was a student at the
University of Southern California at Los Angeles, where he joined Delta Tau,
the Delta Tau fraternity and pursued a degree in sports journalism.
