Meg Ryan

Meg Ryan is a blonde-haired blue-eyed woman with a vivacious personality. Meg Ryan was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra to Susan (Duggan) and was an English teacher, and once an actor. Harry Hyra was a math teacher. Her heritage includes Ruthenian, Polish and Irish, as well as German. ("Hyra") is her Ruthenian surname, and "Ryan", is her maternal grandmother's maiden name. Meg graduated from Bethel High School, Bethel in May 1979. Meg relocated to New York City and studied journalism at New York University. Meg Ryan was her new name, and she began acting to earn extra money as she finished her education. 1981 was her debut on the big screen. She played Candice Bergen's daughter in the film of George Cukor Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the part of Betsy in the TV soap as the World Turns (1956) after she had a go at. She was in the show's cast from 1982 to 1984. Meg was also part of the TV series One of the Boys (1982), which was quickly ended. She moved to Hollywood in 1984, where she was offered an opportunity to be a part of the western series Wildside (1985). Meg's small part in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her being included in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) in which she co-starred alongside Dennis Quaid. She starred again with Quaid in the remake of D.O.A. (1988) and the couple tied the knot on Saint Valentine's Day in 1991. In 1989, Meg appeared in When Harry Met Sally... (1989) and the scene at the restaurant became famous. Meg was nominated to both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. Meg was also seen alongside Tom in the critically acclaimed Sleepless in Seattle (1993) for which she was nominated for the Golden Globe. Meg decided to act against her peers in 1994 when she played the character of Meg as a mother/wife who has a drinking problem in the film When a Man Loves a Woman (1994). Then, she was back to "cute" with both I.Q. (1994) as well as French Kiss (1996). People Magazine named Meg "Woman Of The Year" in 1994. In 1994, she received the Harvard Hasty Pudding Award.
